From a heart of thankfulness

Thank you all who supported out bigger vision of helping out the Vancouver community by donating a bag of food. We were able to raise over $500 of food for those less fortunate and our Body In Balance community really made a big impact. I know you hear my speak it all the time, but I have a true vision of getting our community healthier, and it starts with hearts of gold. It's one thing to have the body in good physical shape so we can do and enjoy the things of life. When we are in a great state of thankfulness and generosity is where we can see tremendous growth. This long weekend gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the many blessings our good Lord has given me. I have a beautiful wife (as I'm sure you would agree) a great family wellness practice, a wonderful son, and one on the way. God has given me a roof over my head and people to serve. What more could I ask for? I know it is hard times with people who have unfairly lost their jobs, and I am so grateful to have ...

Will Work For Food

It's time for our annual food drive at Body In Balance. The time where we can give back to those less fortunate. Here's how we are helping: 1) If you bring in a bag of food before November 19th, we will exchange it for a complimentary adjustment. So that we can give everyone an opportunity to get adjusted, we are holding a special day to do the adjustmets, Saturday, November 21st, starting at 9am. 2) If you refer a friend or family member in we will exchange their bag of food for a complimentary exam, including consultation, chiropractic analysis, computer stress tetsing, and x-rays if needed. The clock is ticking, and the more bags of food we donate, the more our community will be served. So let's kick it in high gear, and help some folks out. Blessings, Dr. Scott

Life is all a balancing act

As I interact with more and more people telling me their lives are out of control, I stop and assess my own life. I am married with a 2 year old, run a family wellness practice, and still have bills Yet, I make time to exercise, eat right, take personal time, date night time, and get adjusted. As I look myself in the mirror, I feel that if I can do it, anyone can. I put my shoes on one at a time, just like the rest of you. The only true difference is that I have spent so much time educating myself on the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. One must note that it is still a struggle. What I have found to work is to actually schedule my workouts, adjustments, date nights, and so on. As sterile as this sounds, I am able to get way more done in my off time and have set up my schedule to allow me to have time for the things in life that I want to do. If I am not the best me, I can not serve you to the fullest, cannot be the best husband, friend, or father. So to a certain extent, my heal...

Swine Flu: Nothing to Sneeze At

This country has got me going crazy! Swine Flu this, vaccinate that. I even heard that some hospitals are making it mandatory for their employees to get the H1N1 (swine flu) shot. But you better believe that if the employee gets the flu after that shot, the hospital will not pay for lost wages. It just doesn't make sense. We are still so caught on a quick fix society, that we are driving ourselves deeper into sickness and despair. Many Americans do not know that we have been through pandemics like this before. Like the Spanish flu which killed over 20 million people. Interestingly enough, In Davenport, Iowa 50 medical doctors cared for 4,953 cases with 274 deaths. Also in Davenport, 150 chiropractors saw 1,635 cases with only one death. In the state of Iowa, medical doctors treated 93,590 patients, with 6,116 deaths, a loss of one patient out of every 15. In the same state, excluding Davenport, 4,735 patients were seen by chiropractors with a loss of only six patients – a loss of o...

Beat the Heat With Water

Since this week's heat crisis, we've seen temperatures of over 106 degrees. While it may sound self-evident, it is imperative to drink twice as much water to cool your body down. You see, as we heat, our body's thermostat in the nervous system kicks on the A.C. but the exhaust has to go somewhere--> That's why we sweat. In order for this fancy A.C. unit to keep running, it needs regular refridgerant so that it doesn't over heat. I've been hearing many stories this week of how our members' car air conditioning has busted, in which it could have been prevented with regular maintenance care. Since chiropractic works at bettering the flow of your nervous system, a body will have a better chance at regulating its temperature when it is well adjusted. Take Away: drink more water and get adjusted!! By the way, our patient appreciation day on 7-23 was a great success. We had a huge party and many people signe dup for care. Win-win in my book.
