Black Friday, Cyber Monday... And then there was Subluxation Tuesday

Subluxation Tuesday Traveling and preparing for that Thanksgiving feast, overindulging with Turkey and pumpkin pies, stores opening at 6PM for those early holiday sales, next comes Black Friday, then Small Business Saturday, not to mention traveling home on Sunday, followed by Cyber Monday!   Seems like there was not a moment to spare this last week with all the family events and shopping for the Christmas.   And for most people, life doesn’t stop here.   We’ve got kids to raise, jobs to do, and bills to pay before the next holiday. So what does that mean? Stress! Did you know Tuesday had a special name as well?   My colleague, Dr. Scott, posted to our Facebook page today is Subluxation Tuesday (see the link below).   Our patients know it all too well that stress causes subluxations, and let’s face it that the holidays are stressful.    My guess is that most people reading this post have noticed their stress levels increase just in the last week.   Remember from my prev

6 Tips to PREVENT Holiday Burnout

The holidays are coming!   This means it’s primetime for Halloween candy, eating way too much turkey at Thanksgiving, countless Christmas treats, and parties galore.   Not to forget about all the time spent traveling, shopping, and visiting family members.   Let’s face it, the holidays are stressful ! It becomes way too easy to get in the habit of eating fast food on the go and taking time away from exercise.   Then there’s that thing they call the New Year’s resolution, and for most people it’s time to head to the gym undo all the damage that’s been done.   Sound familiar?   I just want to take some time and remind everyone to take care of themselves.   Not just for the next 3 months, but for an entire lifetime.   Below are some friendly reminders of things you can do to improve and maintain your overall health. Get massaged: The holiday season can be extremely stressful! With all that stress, your muscles will tense up.   Getting regular massage will do much more tha

November New Patient Food Drive!!

You mean I should see a chiropractor when I don't have pain?

From time to time we get new patients that walk through our door that don’t have neck pain, don’t have back pain, and are actually quite healthy!   Now you may ask why would someone without back or neck pain come see a chiropractor?   It’s really simple: we take care of the nerve system, not pain or symptoms. That’s right, you don’t have to have “pain” to see a chiropractor.   For years, we have been known as back and neck pain specialists, because we get great results treating those kinds of complaints. But there is much more to what we can do for you!   If you were to Google chiropractic benefits you might read, “improves digestive function, reduces stiffness, improves athletic function, reduces blood pressure, improves posture” and so on.   The simplest way I can put it is we screen for and treat nerve interference (subluxations) and correct them if we find them.   Imagine a pilot communicating with air traffic control as he lands. If there is static in his headset and he can

Here Are The Top 5 Supplements You Should Be Taking

One of the aspects of health that I am passionate about in addition to chiropractic is nutrition. I know its large effects on the body both positive and negative. Our advanced and commercialized society has changed the way we see health.   Approximately 100 years ago the average life expectancy of Americans was about 50 years old.   Today the average life expectancy is 77.4 for males and 82.2 for females (World Health Organization 2013).   Doesn't it seem like we're healthier because we're living longer? No, absolutely not.   We are seeing a huge increase in chronic lifestyle diseases.   4 out of 5 people will get cancer, diabetes, or heart disease in their lifetime and probably die from it.   Yes we have cured/prevented polio, small pox, and all those other nasty infectious diseases.   But it's our lifestyle choices (diet and exercise) now that’s literally killing us through poor choices. It concerns me when I see a $.99 2 liter soda with 900 calories! Assumi

What to do after an auto accident

Crash! The sound that nobody likes hearing. So you’ve just been in a car accident, but now what do you do? The next few steps can be the difference between a successful claim and quick recovery, or a lot of extra work. I have seen hundreds of people following an accident. And there are a few keys to successfully navigating the moments after an accident. I would suggest printing this article and keeping it in your car as an easy reference in case the day should arise. What to do once the accident occurs Make sure everyone is OK:   If you see signs of any bleedings, hyperventilating, or unconsciousness, call 911 immediately. Exchange insurance, not blame: If everyone appears to be ok, exchange auto insurance information with the other driver. Try and be cordial. There is no need to place blame at this point. Safety is the goal now. Take Photos: Take pictures with your phone or camera of where the car was struck and possibly some pictures
